January 2019 - An update for our Angels

We are proud to share our wines with a fabulous bunch of people around the world with nakedwines.com - a customer funded wine business that has helped shape our wines. Here is an update we recently shared with our Angels.

Dear Angels,

The season is racing along here in Waipara and we are loving it.  Here is some snaps of my lovely Father (Peter) in the vineyard  :)

Peter Parish, Dunnolly Estate

The typical Kiwi summer consists of a moderately warmish weather - sunny days with temperatures in the late 20's, peaking at 30'C mid afternoon before a steady decline to a cool overnight temp of 10-14'C.

Well, this year we have experience most days over 30'C consistently since Christmas and overnight temps of 20'C.  It's been fabulous for our vineyards.  The Hills around us are drying off but the vines are looking spectacular - healthy, upright & with a modest even crop.

This vine health is due to our amazing clay soils, these soil have really high water retention.  This effect can be described as a big sponge that absorbs all the moisture when it’s wet and then as it dries out, it slowly but steadily, squeezes out.  Amazing!  This process gives our plants the water they need to cope with this very warm weather but also gives our wines their uniqueness & brilliant quality.

Dunnolly Estate, Waipara Valley 2019

Have a great week everyone and thanks again for all your support.

If you haven’t tried the newly released 2017 Dunnolly Reserve Chardonnay & 2018 Dunnolly Pinot Gris - please do…

Thanks,

Nicky
